Mediators

ReVo will not have a mediator staffing position. All ReVo SoVereign staffing members of the CaBinet and SeNate will act as mediators when needed though a vast majority of mediating situations will arise inside the chatrooms and be in the responsible hands of Room Leaders and their Room Mediators.

Being a mediator on ReVo has one goal in mind: Helping to end disputes. This should be the focus whether it is at room level, forum level or site level. Below are guidelines for achieving a successful mediation on ReVo:

  • Focus on a resolution to the situation, not on removing the situation.
  • Be a mediator, not a moderator.*
  • Never reply in anger. All responses in any mediation must be in a calm and clear-headed tone.
  • Never judge roleplay. This stays in the hands of the roleplayers themselves.
  • You can always ask someone else for help. It is far better to ask another ReVo staff member for assistance than to fumble through a situation you do not have a handle on or grasp in its entirety.


  • *To be moderate is:
    mod-er-ate

    1. kept or keeping within reasonable or proper limits; not extreme, excessive, or intense: a moderate price.
    2. of medium quantity, extent, or amount: a moderate income.
    3. mediocre or fair: moderate talent.

    ReVo staffing and protocols will not be defined as medium quantity nor as mediocre or moderate talent. While we will seek to be reasonable, we will mediate situations for the best results rather than pursuing removal or booting as has been far too commonplace of an approach before our ReVolution. We will seek to end disputes without taking sides, seek to listen without judging, and seek assistance when the situation does not seem to be heading towards resolution.

    Expectations for mediators


  • Mediators will report all situations in their entirety for review and training purposes from the ReVo CaBinet and SoVereign. (This only applies to Site Staff, NOT individual room mediators. You only report to your room leader.)
  • Mediators will receive backup and support from the ReVo CaBinet and SoVereign for this oft thankless task. Ask for assistance.
  • Mediators will conduct themselves in quiet, reserved manners when having to visit another's room to handle an issue. All comments should be in PM unless a blanket statement is warranted.
  • Mediators will request assistance in the event they are threatened, harassed or otherwise put on the defensive. Defensive stances often negate the goal of mediation and lack constructive resolutions to the situation at hand.
