She takes her time, walking
along the sidewalk. She had
been locked up in her office
all day, it was just good to be
outside to enjoy the freedom
to be breathed in. The breeze
feels good against her face,
washing over her the scent of
fall that permeates the breeze.
There are sounds that bring
the feeling of fall; kids playing
in the leaves, their laughter
echoing in that breeze. The
sounds of traffic further on
overlaying the laughter at times
with their horns and engines.
Sometimes, she finds herself
forgetting what life was about
when she was locked up in that
office.
Fall was her favourite time of
the year, and the sounds and a
scent that the breeze carries to
her reminds her. It brings back
memories of her own child-
hood, a time where she had no
worries beyond the ice cream
she was going to beg her folks
for that night. Perhaps that
extra slice of pie she would
nip from her mother while her
father pretended not to see.
The echo of that laughter in the
breeze helped her feel a whis-
per of her own youth.
Reread it. What can you re-
spond to, were you the other
player? It’s a nice read, but is
there anything you can truly
respond to that? No. There-
fore, that makes it fluff. And,
we don’t want to really post a
lot of fluff, because those trying
to play with you won’t have
anything to respond to. So, the
question now becomes how we
make it more than fluff.
We break it down, now. We
know the character is walk-
ing down the street. There
are things you must take into
perspective now. Where is
the character at(besides the
street)? What are you the
player wanting to do with the
character? Are there charac-
ters nearby that you want to
interact with? Do you want to
set a scene where something
happens that creates interac-
tion?
Let's say this is a lycan charac-
ter that is heading home from
work. We know she spends a
supposedly large amount of
hours locked in an office. She
is walking past a park, thus the
sounds of children playing in
leaves.
She is not near a lot of traffic,
the post tells us that since the
children's laughter is overlaid
by traffic sounds at times only.
We want her to come across
other lycans, and they are sit-
ting on a bench nearby. Per-
haps this character is fairly shy,
stands to reason that she could
be since she works in an office
all day, and her mind wandered
to childhood memories rather
than thoughts of recent inter-
actions.
She takes her time, walking
along the sidewalk. She had
been locked up in her office all
day, it was just good to be out-
side to enjoy the freedom to be
breathed in. The breeze feels
good against her face, washing
over her the scent of fall that
permeates the breeze.
