Charact er
The Featured Character for this issue is a character that many may have seen on the Whochat but
have never gone in to the room of Realms of Storm and met themselves.
Featured this month is Remus Petrova, Lord Protector of Storm, Husband of Aeryn and High Lord of Winter’s Peak. It was my pleasure to sit down
with the character, and the character’s writer, and learn a little more about them both. We delved into a few deep subjects and we both had fun with
this interview. I have to personally thank Warden, the player of Remus Petrova, for taking the time to do this interview with me.
Remus Petrova
What is one of the scariest moments that
you recall happening to you, Remus?  How
about funniest and saddest?
His scariest moment, I would say, was
when, as a youth of 15 on his first solo
hunt, a right of passage into manhood
for his people, he came face to face with
a Dark Wolf - basically a dire wolf-style
large creature that has a taste for human
flesh. His funniest moment was hiding in
the snow and scaring his wife, Aeryn, who
hates the cold. The saddest? There have
been two moments in his life that would be
hard to pick between. The first is the death
of his first wife and love during childbirth,
followed by the loss of the child soon after;
the second, just recently, his second son,
third child with the current wife, was killed
by a foe during a civil war over the throne.
What has impacted you the most and how,
Remus?
What’s impacted Remus the most has
been having the power to rule the lands of
the north in the name of the crown thrust
onto him. He is a man who doesn’t want a
lot of power - as a chief, he was a guide, a
leader, but in such a small way compared
to his current role. He’s had moments of
great self doubt, for now if he does the
right thing as it now affects a lot more
people than just his small little tribe, but
this has also strengthened his resolve to
do what he feels is best, and understand
the wisdom that comes from the mistakes
he makes.
List five words that best describes you, as
a person, Remus?
Humble, honorable, strong, loving and
loyal.
Tell us a little about your realm within this
role-play land?
It’s a solid kingdom made up into five re-
gions: the Crown Lands, the North, South,
East and West. Each of those areas have
a High Lord who is second to the crown,
though the crown lands are lead soley by
the King/Queen. It can be a harsh world
with battles and wars over more power, but
most of the time the regions stay peaceful
with each other. Right now it’s a time of re-
building and the dawning of a new age as
another King will shortly be named. OOC-
wise, I like to refer to it as a mix of Game
of Thrones and Lord of the Rings. There
are magical races about, such as elves and
dwarves, but they are rare to find as many
of them have begun to leave the lands to
let the humans have their time to shape
the world. Other kingdoms or rival lords are
not the only threats that they face. Finally,
there are the Shadows, an ancient source
of magic that corrupts and twists people,
land and animals into darker versions that
thrive on negative emotions.
Is Remus ever hard to write?
Yes, at times he can very stubborn to
wrap my mind around - mainly when he’s
conflicted about not wanting too much
power, but yet being told that he needs to
take up more power for the betterment of
the realm.
Have you ever written something and
wondered “WTF”? If so what did Remus do
that you weren’t expecting?
No, I don’t think I’ve had one of those mo-
ments. I know his wife has given him “that
look” at some of his choices but I have not
done that.
If you, the writer, were ever to meet Remus,
what do you think that would be like?
Very strange. As Remus tends to represent
the idea type of person I wish to be: a man
who is strong willed enough to not seek
out power for his own personal gain.
Tell me a bit about Remus? Just something
that you would like to share with the ReVo
Magazine Readers?
He’d give up everything for his family - that
is his first thought and concern.
Are there any other things you would like
us to know about Remus?
As nice, calm and gentle as he appears he
can be as harsh as the winters of the north,
if need be.
Now, a little about you, the typist, behind
the Featured Character. What made you
decide to try online role-playing? How long
have you been role-playing?
I’ve been rping since 2001, maybe even

How did the character Remus Petrova come into creation?
He was originally made as an older brother for a friend’s character.
He has since morphed into the man he is now.
Tell us a little about Remus?  A little bit about his dreams? Goals in life?  What is his
profession?
Well, to talk about his dreams a little back history is needed. He was a hunter and chief-
tain of a wandering tribe. Growing up, he would go with his father to trade in the big cas-
tles and cities and saw how they were homes and his dream and goal in his life became
to see his people settle down in one place and have a true home. His own clan’s legends
speak of them not always being wanderers of the lands but having a great city that was
smashed by a war, and thus his people were forced to wander.

corrupt and ruin the lives of those who invite it in.
sooner then that. I started out on a room in Chatro,
Sherwood Forest. I’ve always been creative and it
looked fun.
What is your least favorite genre? How about your
favorite?
My favorite has to be medieval fantasy. I don’t really
have a least favorite, but if I have to name one, I
would have to say Gor as I just never got it.
What advice would you give to someone new to
online role-play?
Don’t stress out if you can’t get into a roleplay right
away. It takes time to get some of the old guard
to let folks into their little circle of friends. And, as
always, rp as much as you like unless it’s not fun. If
it’s no longer fun, don’t force yourself into it.
