She went blank for a moment
rethinking when that precious
girl turned into one and almost
ate her face off. “Something
happened, something changed
people... turned them into
creatures that are dead but not
dead.. and want to eat us, all of
us.”

Honestly she didn’t know, this
was still something that she too
was trying to grasp. She blinked
a bit and looked around toward
the children who were all resting
at the moment then back toward
the talking squirrel with a sigh.
“About as possible as a talking
squirrel I suppose. Though I see
and talk to you and I have been
attacked and watched those I
care for turn into one of those
biters right before my eyes.
As they age they become
slower because their bodies
seem to be decaying but they
seem mindless. Though they
can smell you and loud sounds
attract them as well. I don’t
really know -how- it is possible,
and so far anyone I’ve talked to
about it really only has their own
guesses.
No one knows, they haven’t
released an official statement
from the CDC or anything but
it is some sort of disease that
people get. I used to think it
only came from scratches and
bites... but, this last girl, she was
just sick.. just... sick... and then...
her friend, her friend had to
shoot her in the head otherwise
it would have been Nathan’s
neck or mine or one of the other
children...
Oh this world is so twisted now
little squirrel I am sorry you came
here.”

really was given a job but she
knew what she became. “I... am
the comfort, that people seek
out, I take care of the children
while the warriors fight, and then
I soothe the warriors when they
get back. Really, thats bout the
best way I can put it.”
